connetion was educational. i think for next year I'll try to sell prints. I'm happy because I made enough in sketch commissions to pay for my table and ticket. (parking is another story)
definatly some cool soul eater cosplay, especially this little girl who was dressed up as maka. :3 dawws!!! she was so cute! i wish i brought my camera 3 days instead of one (i kept forgetting my battery)
on the last day when i went home my mother told me she had a mammogram, and there were cancer cells. today she had the operation and had them removed. this shows how important it is to get regular checkups and take care of your health, if she hadn't I don't know what would've happened 6 months down the line.
but alright i has some character sheets i've been working on!
here is a redesign for jared that will start in the next comic. biggest difference is the white belly and the peng logo on his bag. i want to make things more specific in the next story.
oh and this was a lil self portrait diddy i did today :3

I just finished the art for the cover for my next mini comic! :D I'm so excited! i actually really like how muted everything is. only 4 pages to ink and editing, then putting it all together next Friday! then PRINT!!!
there will be 10 copies available at Conneticon (July 31st-Aug 1st, Hartford CT) and plenty of the first issue!
by the way, finished the soul eater anime... once the book is done and printed, EXPECT FANART! :D. |

yesterday morning i went to work. got there on time, no problem. got my apron on and walked behind the counter. clocked in, then started brewing coffee. after a short rush comes through the store, i start hearing a sound. it ways a high pitch "uwhaaaaaaaa". no it wasn't a baby, way to high pitch and well, on pitch to be a baby. i assumed it was a part of a song that was playing. then a minute after the song changes it happens again. now, i'm confused because i thought the song was over, and this time it the voice sang "uwaaaaahhhhhh thhhhaaank youuu jeeeezzzusss." So clearly it was not a starbucks song, because i think theres some rule somewhere that they don't play religous music. i turn around and sitting there is a hefty black man, belting out again a "jeeeeezzusss" in the highest gospel pitch i have ever heard.
needless to say, i was thinking 2 things, why is this guy singing in a starbucks, and wow, just :rofl: wow. After an hour of the random "uwaaahhh" singing it did start to get more annoying then the lady who came in and asked me to take a shot out of her drink. (*true story, i was amazed she asked that) he left the store around 10 leaving me with this fun story.
now that guy was funny, this guy was creepy.
he came up to me at register and commented on my art work on the board. a co worker said "oh wow, he's really interested. maybe he's an artist too." that was fine. later towards the end of my shift i walk out and start cleaning some tables in the lobby and he walks over. he says "you know your artwork makes this store." now, i'm flattered, and he starts asking me if i go to art school, and more specifically SVA. i tell him i'm a graduate and he starts talking about how SVA went down in the 80s and 90s and now is making a comeback. i shrug away telling him i need to clean.
and then, he kept following me. he continued to talk about his friends who work in a studio that was around the area and how the studio is closed now. i walk to the back room to put the towel away, and come back behind the bar. AND HE WAS STANDING ON A CHAIR IN THE LOBBY. just standing there looking up. my manager asks him what he was doing and he says he was listening to the music and it was louder there. keep in mind, the layout of the store, the speakers are near the tv all the way on the left wall. He was on the right far away from it.
it was that moment that my manager told me "go home now, that guy is creepy.
so yeah. i bolted the second he said that. that was my morning Saturday. |

portfolio review... Thomas Woodruff... done deal...
he said i need to present better (because my portfolio sleeves look like i stabbed them with my pencil, and i need to trim my pages before portfolio review day)
mostly he told me the BIGGEST thing i need to do is research more natural things (not looking at photos, but going outside and studying nature. also if i want to draw costumes he told me to go to shows at FIT (which sounds :D AWESOME!!!) and look at costume construction, mainly to help my costumes look believable.
he recommended me also to read "From beast to blond" by marina warner because it discusses fairy tales. mainly because if i have any interest i need to... well... be interested and informed. we also had a discussion about how artists pull from resources, so that the work will be more rounded and fuller, and so that if someone in the ofice is talking to you about a job and they ask you "have you read ......" you don't look like a kid off the streets with their own head in their imagination. this is a serious problem i've had. i do need to experience shows and art more. oh man... i'm hal excited, and half thinking my brain is gonna fry from info overload. O.O
ahh... on a side note the day before he came into the cartooning studio and asked me if i knew what Rumpelstiltskin was about... oh man... O.< his answer kind of freaked me out a weeeeeeeeee bit. but he brought up a point that i need to be more aware of a stories past. because being put on the spot with no answer... is not good...
oh on another side note art from a class I'm gonna fail!!!
seriously i have not done enough for this class to pass. i expect the F.
on another note, now that portfolio reviews are over i can finally get the thumbnails for my webcom... oh wait... there is O.O portfolio day!!! and Fresh meat!!! oh man in about 3 weeks i'm going to miss the "oh i got time... wait nooooo!!! i don't" thing. seriously, i'm not happy about graduating... >.< real world does not sound inviting... |

*i keep forgetting i have a livejournal just FYI...
so when i didn't think that my store could get any more rediculous... it did.
WE HAD NO WATER... YA GOT THAT NO WATER.
no i'm not talking about those $2 water bottles, i mean we had no running water. no brewing, no espresso, not even water to give away all complementary style. wow, we usually run out of a lot of stuff, but seriously it was heee-laaarrrr-eeee-us to say we can't pull shots.
oh and my manager asked me to draw the boards. now normally theres a preset image that i look at and draw (since its a corporation) but my manager told me to draw my characters on them...
XD ah! four hours i didn't spend on the floor and still got paid. nice!!!
 this one actually i like my character on the left. he came out the best)
i did this one first and O.O its...so...bad... i partly blame the marker chalk pens we have to use. also i only had 4 colors to use: green, yellow, the dullest brown ever, and fire red. i think in nature, animals would avoid this sign in particular since well, red black yellow kinda state :I'M DANGEROUS! I KILL YOU!!! so i'm not fond of it.
next time i will hopefully get white. hopefully... although considering the fact we run out of nearly everything at work... probably not. XD

horrah! its 2009! my brother is repeating it over and over again, and now he just took a picture of the tv with the ball falling on his phone. >.< now he's showing me...

saw ep 22 of Geass R2... Lelounch rules the world, Suzaku is his knight, Marianne and Charles are gone, CC is back in business, and now its lulu vs his brother...
still.... YESSSSS!!! i like this scenario... and they do it all while wearing school uniforms XD... the rediculousness of this anime astounds me. i laugh hysterically at it. i hope lulu is like, "betray me huh... well i just took down Ragnarok and now I'm emperor of the country you appose... whacha gonna do bout that?"
the fact that Lelounch geassed the power of the gods is just freaking hilarious. |
